A step by step guide to install the program
1. Download the Hywar Installation program link on the home page.
2. Your browser should then intiate the save file window.
A. Click on the save button.
B. Your browser should then give you a directory listing and from this point you just save the file where you want it.
CAUTION: you need to remember location where you are saving the file.
3. After the file has completed its download.
a) Locate the file and double click it.
Note if you did not change the file name it should be called HywarElite.exe
4. The installation wizard will then bring up the Hywar Gold Utility splash screen. It contains prefabed data just click Continue
5. It will then ask you for your name and organization. Enter the data and click OK
6. It will then ask you to confirm the information. Click OK
7. Now the software will ask you to specify the directory you wish to install the software at. It should default to your drive and \Hywar Elite\ Click OK
8. Now that the location is determined just click on the little computer in the upper left corner of the window and it will begin installing the Program
9. Finally it tells the software has been installed correctly if done correctly or it will bring an error if there was an error Click OK
10. It will then ask you if you wish to restart your computer. Click Yes or No I recommend No it should not be needed except to put the Hywar Elite into your Programs section in your start button. But if you go to the folder and drag the icon to your desktop your be done.
11. Once you launch the software it will come up with an error as it looks for the link to Orig.bmp and 999.bmp. This is no big deal and the software will recreate the links after it is fully initialiazed. However before it can be fully intialized it must get past these errors. So when the error comes Click OK then it will probably ask you to locate the file it is looking for in windows file browser. Click Cancel here. The program will fail to launch and you will have to launch it again. The error may come up again do the same procedure again. The next time you launch the software it should re-establich the links and there should not be any more problems.
Some common things out of the ordinary that may happen. Because I am giving you a past game that is finished with the software as kind of a demonstration you may experience an error code that informs you that an OLE object is not recognized by your computer. What this simply means is that the link in the database that establishes the game numbers map with the game within the system is from another computer and inaccurate therefore it will be ignored by your computer. This should only be an issue when modifying a game map from my past games. All new games created should have the correct OLE link from your computer. If you do not want the demo games that I have left in the software simply click on delete game from the main screen and enter the game numbers of the games you wish deleted one at a time. The only game that should never be deleted is the ORIG.
